When you think of San Diego, it’s not likely that rainy weather would come to mind; but that’s just what San Diego had in store for our engagement photos. Since we traveled from Michigan for the shoot, rescheduling to a sunnier day was not in the cards; so hours before the shoot photographer Pauline Conway and videographer Sammie Milner suggested we switch photoshoot locations.

Luckily the new location was my favorite hometown beach, Coronado Beach; home of the infamous Hotel Del Coronado. As we arrived, there was still a light drizzle so Pauline and Sammie suggested that we take some cover utilizing some of the stunning beachside homes to escape the rain. Halfway through the session, the clouds parted, the rain stopped; and the most stunning rainbow appeared in the sky.

Since it had been raining, the usually busy Coronado Beach was practically empty and we set up a beachside picnic complete with a cheese plate, wine, and a stunning garden bouquet designed by Zeyda Evans from The Little Fleur Co.

When planning and designing our engagement shoot it was important to me that we not only have an aesthetically pleasing picnic design but that it was also intentionally planned. Our beachside picnic featured the same fruit and wine options that made up some of the first meals that we shared during their early dating. It was so special for us to incorporate some of our early memories as we celebrated our engagement and future together.

We spent the remaining session time eating our curated snacks, cheering to our future with sweet harvest Riesling wine, and showing off our swing dancing moves as an homage to swing dancing we did on our first date.
