This elopement inspiration shoot with real couple Jim and Kenny, who were engaged just a few months beforehand, features a summery citrus theme with an emphasis on personalized details.  

This shoot was designed to inspire 2020 couples who made the difficult decision to get married and reschedule their larger wedding celebration with their loved ones to 2021. We wanted to showcase a couple celebrating their marriage after a city hall elopement complete with a cocktail set up with margaritas and cake! 

The William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan is a historical campus library built in the Italian Renaissance style and opened in 1923. We utilized their expansive porch for a cocktail reception celebration and their portrait session was captured in the striking Gothic-style University of Michigan Law Quad built in 1933.  

The brightly colored citrus fruits and fresh floral decor tablescape was paired with a classic slate blue linen and accented with custom handmade citrus lollipops. We utilized the citrus floral theme paired with blue details throughout the design including the flatlay designs. We reimagined the classic personal floral and went with a handcrafted pocket square boutonnière style to add a lush floral for both grooms.  

The personalized elopement invitation suite featured bright watercolor strokes and custom calligraphy. Additionally, we included an invitation insert featuring a citrus ombré calligraphy design that highlighted the closing statements from the 2015 Supreme Court Ruling legalizing same-sex marriage across the United States.
